James Chao, Vice President
Mr. Chao is responsible for the overall performance of SubZero Constructors' Industrial
Refrigeration Division. Over the course of 16 years, his diverse project experience
has encompassed feasibility studies, food distribution facilities, candy storage
facilities, meat/dairy/produce processing plants, floral distribution centers, and
turnkey interior cold storage facilities.
At the corporate level, James is responsible for strategic business development,
coordination of daily business operations for the Refrigeration Division, and most
importantly, ensuring that we meet the needs of our clients. At the project level,
his management responsibilities consist of project planning, estimating, working
with agencies and commissions, coordinating with architects and engineers, scheduling,
and staffing. James is a member of the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration
(IIAR) and the Refrigeration Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA).
Mr. Chao earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal
Poly San Luis Obispo. |
Larry Gilliland, P.E., Director of Engineering
Mr. Gilliland is responsible for all mechanical design and engineering at SubZero.
He has 16 years of professional experience in the industrial refrigeration industry
specializing in food processing, distribution facilities, recreational ice rinks,
and military test facilities. His experience includes refrigeration system design,
system analysis and project management.
Larry has directed design, engineering and construction coordination activities
for over $40 million worth of large industrial refrigeration projects for companies
like Contessa Premium Foods, Sigma Alimentos, Earthbound Farm, Sysco Foods, Del
Monte Fresh Produce, Smart & Final, Sara Lee Bakery, and Molson and Coors Breweries.
He actively promotes the use of cutting edge design applications like parametric
modeling to enhance design response time and accuracy. He is a valued asset for
the SubZero team, particularly as it relates to his professional engineering standards,
attention to detail, and solution-oriented mindset. Larry is an active member of
the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR), where he currently
serves as athe Refrigeration Piping Committee Chair.
Mr. Gilliland earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from
the University of Connecticut and holds Professional Engineering licenses in various
states. |
Romil Angcaco, Project Manager
Mr. Angcaco directs front-line design/construct services, focusing on refrigeration
design solutions. Romil reviews all disciplines during the planning phases of prospective
projects to determine project scope, preliminary architectural and engineering design,
total project cost, and development of the construction phase project team. He provides
comprehensive analysis of the best and most practical systems for effective lifecycle
costing and optimum value for SubZero clients. He is also responsible for ensuring
that all reasonable options are fully explored and that only the best solutions
are implemented.
Romil has over 21 years of professional experience in designing and constructing
both ammonia and freon refrigerated systems. He has designed and managed projects
from small facility retrofits to new large-scale industrial refrigeration installations
for Sysco Food Services, US Foodservice, Alta Dena Certified Dairy, Coors Distributing
Company, Ken's Foods, Stremicks Heritage Foods, Nevada Beverage and more. Romil
is a member of IIAR and former President and Chairman of the Board for the Refrigerating
Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA) California Chapter 2.
Mr. Angcaco earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from
MIT, Philippines. |
